Pharmacokinetics of the recombinant ovine interferon-tau in lambs

In the current study, twenty lambs, aged 4 months, half male and female, were classified into four groups, with five in each group. The experimental three groups of lambs given intravenous (IV), intramuscular (IM) subcutaneous (SC) administrations recombinant ovine interferon-τ (roIFN-τ). fourth group (normal control) was normal saline injections same way. After administrations, blood samples collected from tested animals at different time points post injection, serum titers roIFN-τ measured using cytopathic effect (CPE) inhibition bioassay. results calculating pharmacokinetic (PK) parameters DAS software showed that PK characteristics through IV injection conformed to two-compartment open model, whose half-life distribution phases (T1/2α) 0.33±0.034 h elimination half-life(T1/2β) 5.01±0.24 h. However, features IM SC one compartment Tmax 3.11±0.26 4.83±0.43 h, respectively, together an life(T1/2β) 9.11±0.76 7. 43±0.58 absorption (T1/2k(a)) 1.13±0.31 1.85±0.40 respectively. bioavailability after administration reaches 73.57%, which is greater than (53.43%). These indicate drug can be preferably obtained following a single dose aqueous preparation. This study will facilitate clinical application as potential antiviral agent future work.
